A/C Tips: How to Have a Cooler Home This Summer

Springtime is almost over, which means the hot summer months are just around the corner. Before the heat wave takes its toll in your home, crank up your air conditioning now to find out if repair work is necessary. You wouldn’t want to go without an air conditioner when the temperature is at its hottest.

If you notice that your air conditioning unit is not cooling your home enough, check the specifications. Larger spaces require larger air conditioning units. If size is the problem, you can opt to purchase more units to increase the cooling in your home, or you can replace your current equipment with a bigger one.

If size is not the issue, it could very likely be a dirty filter. Experts in HVAC system maintenance suggest to check the filters when the air conditioning system isn’t working as efficiently as it should. Dirty filters do not only cause harmful pollutants to circulate around the house, they also stop cool air from flowing in. Experts advise to replace AC filters at least four times a year for best results.

An air conditioning unit’s air condenser is located outside the house or building. It will help to position this on a shaded area to avoid being exposed to sunlight, preferably under trees or shrubs. This can increase the cooling capacity of the system by ten percent.
