Common Gas Furnace Problems

When it comes to choosing an efficient and effective way to heat your home, you can’t go wrong with a gas furnace. While one of the more common types of durable furnaces, it may still succumb to usual problems that plague other kinds of heating systems – specifically its capacity to heat up a space. When this kind of problem occurs, it’s best to call for a professional HVAC repair service – but first, try to determine the possible cause of the problem to get a better idea.

No Heat at All

A broken thermostat, a blown fuse, or a closed control valve are usually the reasons behind a furnace that is producing minimal to no heat at all. See to it that the thermostat is in heat mode and try to move the dial up or down a few degrees, open the control valve, or if you can, replace the blown fuse. If none of the aforementioned troubleshooting tips work, leave the repair to the pros.

Not Enough Heat

If the furnace is not giving substantial heat, check if the filter or gas burners are dirty or require some adjustments. Take note that proper maintenance is needed for the furnace to function properly. Therefore, clean or replace air filters regularly and call in a furnace service technician for routine maintenance.
